New project aiming at promoting international activities of the CONTRIBUTE innovation platform and the Chair in Energy Electronics at UMONS

We are pleased to announce that the kick-off meeting of our new project aiming at promoting international activities of the CONTRIBUTE innovation platform (presented below) and the Chair in Energy Electronics at UMONS was held on 26 August in Namur, Belgium in presence of the team of the S3 (Smart Specialisation Strategy) Wallonia. The new project is financed in the context of the S3, which is the major strategic framework for innovation in Wallonia with 75% of the Walloon annual budget for research and innovation being dedicated to the priority sectors defined by the S3.

The new funding enables us to organize international visits, establish new collaborations and associations, invite guest keynote speakers, and importantly, organize a major international conference in the field of Power Electronics for E-Mobility and Energy Transition by 2026 at UMONS.

This new project is closely linked to the activities and ambitions of the CONTRIBUTE innovation platform. The latter aims to address a series of technical, economic and societal challenges in the fields of mobility, transport, energy, security, and system control. It brings together several ecosystems that have rarely collaborated before, despite their proximity and complementarity of some of their interests and skills, namely rail, automotive, aeronautic, energy, drone, space, and security ecosystems.

The main ambition of the CONTRIBUTE platform is to cover the entire value chain from the research, development and manufacturing to the implementation and operation of products and services. CONTRIBUTE aims above all to ensure the sustainability and excellence of the Walloon transport and energy industry.
