Camilo Garcia Tenorio

Postdoctoral researcher

Research activity:

Biography:

Camilo Garcia received his B.S. and M.Sc. degrees in Electronic Engineering from Universidad de los Andes (Colombia) in 2010 and 2015, respectively, and his Ph.D. In Engineering in cotutelle agreement between Universidad Nacional de Colombia and Université de Mons (UMONS) in Belgium in 2021. Between 2020 and 2023 he held a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions Postdoctoral Fellow grant (BeWaRe) and from 2023 until 2025 he held a second Postdoctoral Researcher position, both within the "System Estimation Control and Optimization (SECO)" laboratory at Université de Mons. He is currently a Postdoctoral Researcher within the Electrical Power Engineering Unit (EPEU) at UMONS.

Camilo has been developing and advancing the extended dynamic mode decomposition (EDMD) method for many years, including the proposal of his own variant, the pqEDMD. His work spans both methodological contributions and practical applications of EDMD in system modeling and identification. Beyond modeling and identification, he has contributed analytical results such as the characterization of regions of attraction of asymptotically stable points when the EDMD approximates the Koopman operator. He has also designed techniques to translate EDMD structure into forms suitable for use in model predictive control frameworks.

Currently, his research focuses on integrating EDMD, neural ODEs, and physics informed NN with condition monitoring methods, aiming to bridge advanced operator-theoretic approaches with practical tools for system health assessment and control.
