Biography:

Geoffrey Lossa received his M.Sc. degree in Electromechanical and Electrical Power from University of Lubumbashi (DRC, 2006) and from University of Mons (Belgium, 2013) respectively. He was a research assistant from 2013 to 2014 and teaching assistant and PhD student from 2015 up to 2021 at University of Mons (UMONS) within the General Physics Department.

Since october 2022, he is an associate professor at ISPT-Kinshasa (DRC) where is teaching to young electrical engineers and teachers some specialities associated with signal processing, active filters synthesis, circuits theory and power system dynamics and stability.

Now, he holds an ARES CCD postdoctoral fellowship associated with a research position within the Electrical Power Engineering Department of UMONS where he continues to work on Uncertainty Quantification in Electromagnetic Systems.

Geoffrey Lossa has been modeling geometrical uncertainties (using an original algorithm) related to

the 2D positions of conductors in the winding window of inductors while propagating them through

a deterministic model based on the finite element method in order to extract their RLC parameters.

He found out ways to reduce the computational burden associated with the stochastic model (by

transforming geometric uncertainties into material ones and using polynomial chaos expansion),

which requires the propagation of uncertainties through a deterministic model. He also performed

the sensitivity analysis of RL parameters to geometric and material uncertainties.

Actually, his research focuses on the modeling of 3D geometric uncertainties of winding to be

embedded into a stochastic model for extracting the parasitic capacitance of wound magnetic

components. He is also investigating on the ability of different approaches to capture the capacitive

effect in the operation of wound inductors over a wide frequency range (beyond the first resonance).
